On March 30, 2019, a 102-year-old Japanese lady jumped from a parachute in the city of Boituva in São Paulo, surprising her relatives and even the skydiving center. In this article, we will comment a little on this case.
Yukiko is not the first elderly person to skydive; in Australia, a 102-year-old woman also jumped from a parachute, and in Brazil, another lady aged 103 jumped from a parachute 5 years ago and broke the world record at the time. Currently, the record belongs to a 106-year-old Grandma.

These examples prove that age doesn’t matter; the limits are set by you. In the case of Yukiko Urata, it all started as a joke between her daughter Dina, her granddaughter Karina, and a friend named Ana Cláudia. They made the invitation as a joke, and the 102-year-old lady accepted.
The Moment of Yukiko’s Skydiving
Having a problem in her leg, where Yukiko had surgery and got prosthetics in 2017, she was only going to watch her daughter and granddaughter’s jump. Fortunately, the instructors said she wouldn’t need to support herself with her leg when descending, so the 102-year-old lady accepted the invitation, and the three generations—Grandma, daughter, and granddaughter—jumped together.
The funniest thing is that all four women readily accepted the invitation to skydive, but the men in the family were scared and did not take on this adventure.

The entire team at the location was surprised and filled with photos and videos. The official channel Queda Livre Paraquedismo filmed it and shared it on YouTube; I will leave the video below for you to follow this incredible jump.
The Longevity of Yukiko and the Japanese
Yukiko has lived in Brazil for many years and came during the Japanese immigration; she must have suffered a lot from racism from Brazilians in the last century, lived many experiences, and had the chance to experience Brazilian culture.
Yukiko revealed that she really likes fish, which explains her reaching this age, despite the absence of Japanese cuisine and hot springs. At 102, she takes no medication, has no hypertension, and no diabetes.
Despite living in Brazil, Mrs. Yukiko visits many circuses, shows, concerts, and other events of Japanese culture. Even living in Brazil, she incorporates Japanese culture into her daily life.

The Japanese are used to risking their lives. Japan’s history is full of conflicts and wars; the Japanese are true warriors, both yesterday and today. Not to mention that the Japanese are accustomed to practicing many extreme sports.
The Japanese have several techniques to have reached this age with such strength and desire to undertake extreme adventures. With the experience of Mrs. Yukiko, you, young or adult, should not make excuses to pursue your dreams.
