Breaking down the song - Brave Heart

In today’s article, we will dissect the song of the digivolutions from the anime Digimon, the classic Brave Heart by Ayumi Miyazaki. Finally, you will understand all the feeling and emotion of each word that the song tries to convey.

Dissecting the Song

Nigetari akirameru koto wa daremo

If given a second, anyone can give up and run away

• 逃げたり – nigetari – run away
• あきらめる – akirameru – give up, abandon (諦める)
• コト – koto – thing, matter
• 誰も – anyone, no one

一瞬あればできるから 歩き続けよう
Isshun areba dekiru kara arukitsuzukeyou

So just keep walking

• 一瞬 – isshun – moment, instant
• あれば -areba – if there is
• できる – dekiru – be able, be ready, can
• 歩き – aruki – walk
• 続けよう – tsuzukeyou – continue, keep going

• つかめ – tsumake – learn, seek, grab, catch (掴む)
• 描いた – egaita – draw, sketch, project, create an image in the mind

Takumashii jibun ni nareru sa

You can become stronger

Any wish, is true it will surely come true…

• どんな – any, what
• 願い – wish, request, prayer
• 嘘じゃない – uso jyanai – It’s not a lie, it’s true
• きっと – kitto – surely, certainly, without a doubt
• かなうから – kanau kara – become reality, will come true

晴れの日ばかりじゃないから たまに
Hare no hi bakari ja nai kara tama ni

Not every day is sunny

• 晴れ – clear weather, sunny
• 日 – hi – day
• ばかり – bakari – only; just; always; nothing but (許り)
• じゃない – jyanai – negative (in the verb bakari – it’s not always)
• たまに – tamani – occasionally; from time to time (偶に)

冷たい雨も振るけれど 伞ひろげよう
Tsumetai ame mo furu keredo kasa hirogeyou

So sometimes even if a cold rain is falling just open your umbrella

• 冷たい- tsumetai – cold, chilly
• 雨 – ame – rain
• 振る – furu – fall, shake
